Health, Safety & CDM Responsibility
Our commitment as Design Engineers
As structural and civil design consultants, we recognise our critical role under the Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015). We are committed to ensuring that health and safety considerations are integrated into the very foundation of our design work — from early concept through to completion.
We take proactive steps to:
- Identify and eliminate foreseeable risks during design stages
- Reduce and manage residual risks where elimination is not possible
- Communicate clearly with the Principal Designer, Contractor, and Client.
- Provide information that supports safe construction, maintenance, and eventual decommissioning.

Risk-Led Design Approach
We work collaboratively with clients, architects, and contractors to:
- Assess structural and civil risks at concept and detailed design stages.
- Ensure practical, safe solutions without compromising performance or cost.
- Maintain robust documentation including Design Risk Assessments, Pre-Construction Information, and Hazard Logs where appropriate.

CDM Responsibilities
In accordance with CDM 2015, we:
- Discharge our duties as Designers, contributing to a safer built environment.
- Provide design-stage risk information that supports the Principal Designer’s role.
- Support the Client in understanding their obligations under the Regulations.
- Ensure that all outputs are aligned with the Health and Safety File
Our Internal Practices:
- All projects undergo a design-stage Health & Safety Review.
- We use clear design notes, sketches, and markups to flag potential risks.
- Our team remains updated on current HSE guidance and industry best practice.
- We promote a culture of open dialogue and continuous improvement.
